Check-in Asia‘s Gary Bowerman is co-host of a new podcast discussing the hottest travel topics in South East Asia, the world’s most dynamic tourism region.
Officially launched in January 2020, The South East Asia Travel Show promises a fresh, insightful and fun perspective on tourism in the region. South East Asia’s travel sector is thriving. It topped the UNWTO’s 2019 World Tourism Barometer for tourist arrivals vs. 2018, with a 7.8% increase. Almost 140 million visitors travelled to the 10 countries of South East Asia in 2020, nearly double the 70.5 million in 2010.
The South East Asia Travel Show will map out the shifting tourism landscapes of the 10 countries in ASEAN: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The show will also analyse the emerging influences on inbound, outbound, domestic and intra-ASEAN tourism, keep a close eye on influential regional markets, such as China, India, Korea and Japan, and assess the opportunities and challenges for travel brands, airlines, hotels, tourism operators and investors.
Released in January 2020, the show’s offical launch featured the two-part ’20 for the 2020s Travel Wishlist.’ Gary and Hannah gaze into the future to analyse the 20 things they’d most like to see happen in travel and tourism before the end of the decade. Two pilot shows were also posted in December 2019, including a mini round-up of the 2019 tourism year in South East Asia.
